The Walter Perry Freedom Foundation presents:
Mr. Emancipation: The Walter Perry Story
a film by Preston Chase
Mr. Emancipation brings us back to the days when Windsor was where it was at. The documentary tells the story of Walter Perry whose Emancipation Day celebrations put Windsor on the map. It was where Motown legends got their start, where Jesse Owens came to show his running chops, and where a young Martin Luther King got to see people from all walks of life just getting along and having a good time.
As one of the singers from legendary Motown group The Supremes put it “We had been singing around Detroit and we felt we were ready for the big time – Windsor” – Singer Mary Wilson
