Disney’s Newsies JR. is a 60-minute adaptation of the 2012 Broadway musical which is based on the 1992 film. The story is inspired by the true events of the newsboys in New York City during the turn of the century. Newsies JR. boasts an award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by the Tony Award-winning writer Harvey Fierstein.
The plot follows the charismatic Jack Kelly, who leads a group of newsboys from across the city to go on strike against the newspaper publishers who raise prices at their expense. The newsies realize that they can make a difference when they band together. They create a movement to fight for their rights and show the power of unity.
The musical features classic songs such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.” Newsies JR. is a timeless story that is full of spirit and heart.
