Handling Seating Issues
- Remain calm and keep smiling. Assure the patron(s) that we will make sure that everyone will be seated in the right spot before the show starts.
- Ask to see the patron(s) tickets. Verify that they are at the right show, on the right date. If they are at the right show, head to the seats that are assigned on their ticket(s).
- When you arrive at the seats, ask the patron(s) who are sitting there to see their ticket(s). Likely, they will have been seated in the wrong section.
- Communicate this calmly to the patrons who are in the wrong seats: “Good evening, folks. I believe there has been some confusion about the seats. You are seated in AA00. Could I direct you to your seats?”
- If you run into any issues, always talk to the Front of House Manager (Gayle) before going to the box office. Thanks to our online ticket selling program, it’s virtually impossible for a ticket to be sold twice. Typically, a double seating issue is the result of patron confusion or miscommunication.
Physically Assisting Patrons
Capitol Theatre volunteers are not permitted to physically interact with patrons. The only exceptions to this rule are as follows:
- Capitol Theatre volunteers are permitted to physically assist if a patron is having a serious medical emergency, and the volunteer has been instructed to assist by the Front of House Manager. In case of a serious medical emergency where immediate action is required (before designated staff are able to intervene), a Capitol Theatre Volunteer is permitted to support a patron who is in immediate need (ie. You may help a patron who is actively falling down the stairs, if you feel comfortable to do so without putting you in harms way).
- Capitol Theatre volunteers are permitted to physically assist a patron who requests help due to an accessibility related need (ie. You may offer a patron your arm if they are struggling, if you feel comfortable in doing so). Volunteers are not permitted to assist without verbal confirmation from the patron that physical assistance is desired.
Examples of physical interaction with patrons to avoid include:
- Touching or grabbing a patron’s arm, back, shoulders or hands
- Touching or grabbing a patron’s clothing or personal items
- Touching, grabbing or moving a patrons accessibility device without permission (such as a wheelchair, cane, walker, etc.)

We encourage you to use these tickets to attend a show as a patron, but they may also be given to your friends or family. To request comp tickets, please reach out to admin@capitoltheatrewindsor.ca.
Comp tickets are only available for WSO concerts, we are not able to offer comp tickets for other events at the Capitol.
