Theatre Etiquette

Welcome to the Capitol Theatre!

Important Reminders for School Shows:

  • Follow the directions of the staff and volunteers
  • No running and watch for tripping hazards
  • No snacks, gum, nail polish, vapes
  • No photos or videos of the performance
  • Stay with your group- your teacher or supervisor needs to know where you are at all times
  • Keep personal items on you! Double check your area before you leave the theatre. To claim lost and found: email [email protected].
  • Washrooms are located on either side of the lobby directly outside the theatres. Accessible washrooms are located to the right of the women’s washroom.
  • The concessions are not open for any school shows, so there is no for students to bring any money.
  • We recommend going to the bathroom before you leave the school. There are limited bathrooms at the Capitol Theatre.
  • If you’re coming to the theatre on a bus, it’s important to remember your bus number! At the end of the performance you must stay seated until your bus number/school name is called.

Theatre Etiquette 101

  • Clapping is a great way to show appreciation for the work that the performers are doing onstage! You’re encouraged to clap at the end of a song or scene.
  • Talking to your neighbor during a performance is distracting to others around you (and the performers on stage).
  • Before the show starts, silence your devices. Texting, Snapchatting, or playing games while people are performing on stage is not cool.
